Mundabor has reminded his readers of one aspect of how the SSPX will determine whether or not to accept a serious offer of a Canonical Regularization from Rome.
- Meeting six conditions
- The freedom to preserve, transmit and teach the sound doctrine of the constant Magisterium of the Church and of the unchangeable truth of divine Tradition; the freedom to prohibit, correct and reprove, even publicly, those who foment the errors or innovations of modernism, liberalism, the Second Vatican Council and their consequences;
- The freedom to use the 1962 liturgy exclusively. To preserve the sacramental practice that we presently have (including: Holy Orders, Confirmation, Matrimony);
- A guarantee of at least one bishop.
- Society should have its own tribunals, in the first instance,
- Exemption of houses of the SSPX from the diocesan bishops,
- A Pontifical Commission in Rome for Tradition “answering directly to the Pope, with the majority of its members and governing board in favor of Tradition.”
- Special deliberative chapter
When the 2012 chapter was held, I understand from a District Superior that they were given full access to the entire body of communications between Rome and the SSPX.
Now that the 'leakers' have shown their true colours (sedevacantists, ecclesiavacantists, nutters) and either left or been expelled relative calm has returned within the SSPX.
This time Bishop Fellay has been able to share information and seek advice from a much wider portion of the SSPX.
This in and of itself has spread 'RoundUp' on Bishop Williamson's weeds.
However, within the 'resistance' these weeds continue to grow and spread their seeds of error, heresy and distrust. Without adherence to Catholic principles of obedience, their 'SSPX-SO', 'SSPX-MC', etc are just splintering into a number of little groups. Just like the sedevacantists that Bishop Williamson confronted in the 1980's.
