High Mass Rubrics for Choir Master
These are my own notes that I learned from my time in the schola in St. Mary's and our former choir master.
Choir and Congregation | Schola
- Processional: On Sundays start when the priest is ready to begin the procession. On weekdays the processional is replaced by the Introite.
- Asperges or Vidi Aquam: On Sunday. Intoned by Celebrant
- Introite: On Sundays begin when the prayer at the foot of the altar start. On weekdays, begin when the priest begins to process to the sanctuary
- Kyrie: On Sundays, start immediately after the Introite. On Weekdays, same, unless it is a Missa Cantata - then begin when the MC starts the confiteor.
- Gloria: Intoned by the Celebrent, when in season.
- Gradual:
- Alleluia / Tract / Sequence: Immediately following the Gradual depending on season
- Credo: Intoned by the priest on Sundays and major feasts after Gospel or Sermon.
- Offertory (Propers): Intone by Cantor after the Dominus Vobiscum
- Offertory (Hymn): After propers and must to short enough to not interfere with priest.
- Sanctus: Intoned at the ringing of the bells at the Sanctus.
