Public rosary in front of the Parliament of Québec

+ JMJ  The right way to protest! Courtesy of SSPX.ca P^3 Sunday, January 31 at 3:00 p.m.: Public rosary in front of the Parliament of Québec January 30, 2021 Source: District of Canada On Sunday, January 31st we return to Boulevard Honoré-Mercier (in front of the Quebec Parliament) to ask for the extension of the access to the mass. The public rosary, organized by the Militia of Mary, will begin at 3:00 p.m. and will last one hour.  The government authorized the attendance of ten people after our demonstration on January 16. Let us thank the Blessed Virgin! The Superior General's appeal of November 2020 goes further: "Let us unite our forces to obtain from Heaven the unconditional freedom to celebrate Mass publicly and to attend it! "This is the reason for our return next Sunday. The public rosary is another beautiful opportunity to witness to ou

Tim Gordon vs Jeff Cassman - Is the SSPX In Schism?

+ JMJ This debate between Tim Gordon and Jeff Cassman.took place a few months ago. Tim Gordon simply repeats old arguments. The objective truth of what Rome says about the SSPX - officially - is contained in this post [Is the SSPX in Schism?] . The Question The Answer No matter how many 'authorities' are cited, it all is naught - the only authoritative answer that describes the situation in recent memory (that I'm aware of) is the one above. The SSPX is 'not in full communion'.   Period ... end point. P^3 P.S. I think I also need to point out that now, thanks to Pope Francis, the SSPX does exercise legitimate ministry within the Catholic Church - ie Confession and Marriages. P^3

After the Crisis (Pandemic) - Obedience Due to Superiors

+ JMJ So ... what will be the outcome of the Pandemic? Right now I'm thinking about the 'anti-mask' demonstrations and general attitude towards government authority.   The obedience due to government authority is no less than that to religious superiors.   At this point, I expect a number of people are screaming "Social Kingship of Christ".      As I've mentioned before, you can't work for the Social Kingship of Christ by disobeying legitimate orders from secular and religious leaders.   If you do, then you are building on sand.   What is scariest is that the 'anti-maskers' don't realise that they are protesting in vain because they are doing just what the left were doing. Now that the 'right' is learning from the 'left', I wonder what will happen when the next emergency is worse than COVID-19. P^3

A St. Anthony Can Help You Find Anything Story!

+ JMJ Early in my life, my mother instilled a strong devotion to St. Anthony.   She was always invoking St. Anthony and had a curious way of reacting when she felt St. Anthony wasn't been quick enough in responding to her request.   She would turn his statue to the wall. Amongst our family, we suspect that when Mom enters heaven she will spend the first couple of  millennia in a corner.  Now ... on to the story. As a child I received some 'hand-me-down' winter mittens (see pic below). The Mittens These mittens are, by far, the warmest that I have ever had and I've had these for 40+ years. I live in Canada so I know of what I speak ... in other words, it gets cold here. One wintry Friday, while I was putting the babies into their car seats, I placed my mittens on the roof of our mini-van. You guessed it, I forgot them there and drove off. A couple of days later, on Sunday, we returned to the scene of the loss.  I had every confidence in St. Anthony, said a prayer invoki

Ecumenism: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (SSPX.ca)

+ JMJ  What should a Catholic think about ecumenism? Well ... rationally is depends on what one means by ecumenism!  P^3 Source: SSPX.ca   Ecumenism: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly During the week of January 18 – 25, Catholics are pressed to join with prayer gatherings for Christian Unity. On its website, the Archdiocese of Toronto is inviting the faithful to join with a virtual prayer service for Christian unity, that will be livestreamed because of Covid-19. Cardinal Thomas Collins, Archbishop of Toronto, will attend that service, to be held at The Salvation Army’s Agincourt Community. David Wells, General Superintendent of The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada, will be the homilist. This event at home is far from being isolated as, for decades, ecumenical gatherings invaded the landscape of the Modern Catholic Church. Mainstream Catholics are so used to such ecumenical gatherings up to the

COVID-19 Vaccines, Aborted Baby Cell-Lines and Catholic Moral Theology - Part G: Does the Principle of Double Effect Apply?

+ JMJ  I was thinking the statement I made yesterday in this article (link) : The principle of double effect doesn't apply since the actual act of murder (abortion) occurred decades ago. I realised that perhaps the principle of double effect (link to article)   does apply when focused on the act of receiving a morally tainted vaccine. As discussed in the article, the principle of double-effect has four criteria. The act must be moral, meaning it cannot be immoral (ie evil).  This is the simple principle that the ends do not justify the means. Any bad effect (result) must be accidental or indirectly caused, whereas the good effect is directly caused. The intention that directs the action must be to create only the good effect.  For example, you cannot intend to kill someone, but you can intend to protect your life. Finally, the intended effect must be proportional to the intended end. Let's do this by the numbers Act - Receiving a vaccine: In itself the act of receiving a va

FSSPX: What is Spiritual Communion?

+ JMJ  During the suspension of public Masses I have been wanted to add an article on Spiritual Communion.  While we have to endure the deprivation of attending Mass, we do not have to feel deprived of the presence of Our Lord Jesus Christ. P^3 Source: SSPX Florida Spiritual Communion is very simple, it only takes a moment, and we can do it during our work, our studies or anything else we may be doing. Whenever we make a spiritual communion, we please God and receive an abundance of his graces.  Whenever we make a spiritual communion, we please God and receive an abundance of his graces. Saints throughout the ages have witnessed to the value of spiritual communion. In a vision, Our Lord explained it to St. Catherine of Siena by showing her two chalices: one made of gold, the other of silver. He told her that her sacramental Communions were preserved in the gold chalice and that her spiritual communions were in the silver chalice. Spiritual Communion is very simple, it o

Bishop Schneider and Vaccines -or- May The Lord Save Us From Celebrity Catholics (Expanded)

+ JMJ Introduction I have met Bishop Schneider and hold him in the greatest respect. So I reviewed the statement on COVID vaccines with attention to two key Catholic Principles. Double Effect Cooperation in Evil Before starting, I would like to bring your attention to my series of articles on the morality of vaccines (link) . Here's a summary to save you time. The principle of double effect doesn't apply since the actual act of murder (abortion) occurred decades ago.  We are dealing with a cooperation in evil situation.   In being inoculated by a morally tainted vaccine our cooperation in evil is remote.  Catholics don't have an obligation to avoid remote occasion of sin.  The use of morally tainted vaccines does provide encouragement for their continued development and worse the development of new immortal cell-lines created from murdered babies. Because of #5, we have an obligation to call for moral vaccines (there are a number of untainted vaccines being developed) and

Fulfilling Your Sunday Obligation During the Pandemic

+ JMJ   In March, when I posted the  SSPX Guidelines for fulfilling the Sunday Obligation (link), I didn't expect to need to re-post them almost a year later. Yet, here we are ... The duty to sanctify Sunday remains  for those who are prevented from attending Holy Mass: The faithful who are prevented are therefore obliged to sanctify Sunday by a time of prayer equivalent to a Sunday Low Mass (about 30 minutes). The reading of the texts of the Mass, the recitation of the rosary and spiritual communion are good means for this. It is also advisable to make a spiritual reading that permeates the spirit of Lent.  The full post can be found at the link above.  P^3 Acts of Spiritual Communion By St. Alphonsus Maria de' Ligouri MY Jesus, I believe that Thou art present in the Blessed Sacrament. I love Thee above all things and I desire Thee in my soul. Since I cannot now receive Thee sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though Thou wert alre

FSSPX.News: What is Revealed by the Fight for the Public Celebration of Mass in France

+ JMJ  I believe Traditional Catholics will understand that the Sacrifice of the Mass has been devalued by the modernists for decades.  It is one thing to acquiesce to the civil orders that are legitimate, however it is another thing to be "proactive" in cancelling public worship. P^3  Courtesy FSSPX.News   What is Revealed by the Fight for the Public Celebration of Mass in France (1) January 03, 2021 Source: fsspx.news Cardinal Mario Grech The legal battle waged by clerics and laypeople against the ban on publicly celebrating Mass for health reasons has revealed deep doctrinal differences within the Church. Here is an overview that comes via a press review. In Le Figaro of November 22, 2020, Jean-Marie Guénois noted, “from the simple layman at the highest level of the Church come divergences on the sacred character of the Mass.” He described “pr

SSPX.ca: The pioneer of Tradition in Canada has passed away!

+ JMJ    Fr. Boulet has written a good article on Fr. Normandin's history.  Worth reading and please remember to pray for the repose of his soul!  P^3 Courtesy of SSPX.ca Father Yves Normandin, RIP Born on February 18, 1925 Ordained a priest on May 31, 1953 Died Piously on December 30, 2020 His funeral took place on January 4, 2021 at Saint-Joseph Center in Saint-Césaire. The pioneer of Tradition in Canada is gone! It is with great sorrow that we share with you the recall to God of Father Yves Normandin, who passed away in Shawinigan, QC, on December 30, 2020. All those who approached Father Normandin can testify that he was a true pastor of souls throughout his priestly life, and this until the end. The author of these lines had the privilege of meeting Father Normandin for the first time in 2006, when he was stationed at Shawinigan Priory, but the name of Father Yves Normandin had already been familiar to him for a long time.  In fact, ho

How many more must die for the throne? or How to combat FUD!

+ JMJ How many more must die for the throne? (Movie Quote: Prince Caspian) The Spread of Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt I've seen a lot of FUD spreading across the intergnat on various stats etc.   So let's put this in context ... especially the perspective of those people in positions of authority who need to make decisions to protect the lives of their citizens. Yep, this is going to be that type of post.  Like it or not the leaders of our governments have their authority from God.  So, as Catholics should know, you need to have a very good reason to deliberately disobey the orders of their superiors. This is basic St. Thomas Aquinas ... so don't blame me for discussing things from a Catholic perspective. The leaders of our countries have taken action to protect the vulnerable of our countries.   As much as the young and not-so-young may whine and complain - I have to ask how many more of our elderly have to die? What the armchair virologists and economists are implying
