 + JMJ   So I received my vaccine in June 2021, so depending on which particular YouTube (YT) celebrity you follow, a sizable portion of my family and myself will die in 3 to 15 months. I have had some colds and my normal collection of allergic reactions to pollen, dust and conspiracy theory (sorry just had to add that one). However, I am not concerned about the morality of being vaccinated with the Moderna or Pfizer vaccines.  I am concerned about the state of the Church, its crisis and how I respond to it. The writings of Skojec continue what appears to be an unhealthy spin and I have seen it in others who pour themselves into combatting the crisis of the Church, get all chewed up and pooped out (exhausted).   Once again, I thank the priest to advised me to keep my cup full ( see below: Spiritual Nourishment for Spiritual Warfare link ).  + JMJ I received two comments from a friend about a New Brunswick COVID-19 restriction giving Business / Retail the option to require proof of vaccination.  + JMJ I've read some articles and noticed that quite a few are concerned about the number of deaths attributed to a COVID vaccine. In the states there are somewhere between 13,000 and 14,000 reported deaths attributed to a vaccine. In Canada the number is in the 40's. Yes, you read correctly. What is missing here is the denominator: 192,000,000 That is the number that google spit out at me this evening. US deaths  due to vaccine reaction: 14,000 / 192,000,000 = 0.00007292 or 0.007292% Context means a lot and people who quote only the numerator are telling half truths or in this case 0.007% of the truth.  + JMJ Take-Away: Yes, the tests aren't perfect (see map of this morning's research) but relying exclusively on a single test in a complex situation would be a mistake. The detection regime is designed to create a multi-factor analysis.  This includes whether or not a person was in contact with a confirmed case, isolation periods, testing at different points during the isolation period, whether a person is presenting symptoms, doctor diagnosis based on symptoms and other diagnostic tests.  So what is all the fuss about testing for SARS-CoV-2/ COVID-19??? I think it is that people are looking for perfection in an imperfect world. In a complex situation there are multiple factors to consider and tests that people see (i.e. stick up the nose) are just the tip of the iceberg.  + JMJ I was asked this question and because I had been focused on the morality and safety it took me back a bit. When I recovered from my surprise, my answer was simple: For my wife, children and mother. There are other people that factor into this, but that was my answer.  First, if my children got COVID-19, I'd have to care for them and I couldn't risk being sick as well.   Second, my mother lives in an assisted living facility.  She and the rest of the occupants of the building are immunized, but and it is a big BUT , the residents are elderly.  I know two important things: Vaccines are ineffective for about 5% of people, The immune response for immuno-compromised people (including the elderly) may be shorter. Meaning the protection reduces over time.  So, while my personal risk from contracting COVID-19 is relatively small, I am concerned about the people that I have contact with and especially those who are more at risk.
