+ JMJ What the Hell as long as we get to Heaven!!! These words were spoken by a seasoned Traditional Catholic who has passed on to his reward.  There's a lot of wisdom in these words.  Our goals are stated in the Catechism quite clearly:   Q. Why did God make you? A. God made me to know Him, to love Him, and to serve Him in this world, and to be happy with Him forever in heaven.  + JMJ As my daughter practised driving and parking, the following came into my mind: Sow good principles, you reap good decisions. Sow according to the Gospel, reap salvation. Sow bitterness, reap sadness. Sow discord, reap abandonment. Sow anger, reap conflict. Sow dishonour of authority, reap chaos. In other times, with other children, my thoughts would have been centred on end of life. 🤣 P^3

 + JMJ      I came across an article "Managing the Complicated vs the Complex" and thought that it presented an interesting perspective on people. A complicated system is one in which there is usually a predictable outcome by knowing the starting conditions.  A complex system in which the same conditions can produce different outcomes, depending on "interactions of the elements in the system." People are unpredictable because they are complex, not complicated, people are non-linear. For example, normally we would assume that a person will take actions that are best for them. However, I have been witness to a person who took actions that weren't best for them, but were the worst possible from someone else.  This doesn't make sense, but people aren't always predictable, they're complex.  + JMJ I've been thinking about Murrax's question and realized that I missed a key principle: Respect. So this article is on that topic and in particular meaning #2: Due regard for the feelings, wishes, rights and traditions of others. In "others" I would include Family, Friends, Authority and God (not necessarily in that order).     Thinking critically, I wondered what does "With Due regard to ..." mean? According to Merriam-Webster (link) , "with due regard to ..." means: With the proper care or concern for ...   Putting this together we have the following composite definition for respect: With the proper care or concern for the feelings, wishes, rights, traditions, of God, authorities, family, elders, friends, and others. So, holding a person in respect means that we will consider them as we make decisions and take action.  This becomes critical when the 'feelings, wishes, rights and traditions' run counter to our own personal desire...
