 + JMJ    Original reports had CMTV shuttering its operations in April.  Well, I get the 503 and a check on Wikipedia states that it went defunct March 13, 2024 ( link ).  Their YouTube site is still active, but at this time all the vids are 3 weeks or older.  Thus ends the story of CMTV, but not of the people involved in the media venture.  I would use 'apostolate' very hesitantly, especially with regards to their editorial bias for the past 10 years.  + JMJ  So ... I noticed on Les Femmes (link), that has been fired resigned from the organization that he founded all those years ago.    At first I had a short "well pot calling kettle black" moment, but then I realised that it must be bad and he does need prayers. Afterall, that is the Catholic thing to do ... pray for the man, it must be humbling and hopefully it will be a time of grace for him.  P^3

 + JMJ Introduction Michael Voris gave a thirty minute speech at the Strength and Honor conference ( link to vid )  in August 2023 (Youtube Transcript below).   When shown this video, my first thought was that he repeats himself over and over again.   My second thought was that he made an clear error saying that Pontius Pilate sin was the greatest. Mistake, Our Lord Himself stated that the sin of those who turned Him over to Pilate was greater.  My third thought was they he was espousing Jesuit blind obedience by staying that an order within the jurisdiction of a superior must be obeyed. Going from memory he seemed to imply that an order within the jurisdiction of the superior could not be sinful. Ergo any legitimate command must be obeyed. One thing that Voris got completely right is that the moral character of an individual in the office does not impact the legitimacy of their commands in the execution of that office.  +  JMJ Celebrity Catholics Fr. Altman and Sedevacantistism  So Fr. Altman had fallen into the Sedevacantist pot hole and others will either follow him or use him as an whipping boy for the Traditionalists as a whole.   In light of the scandal caused by the Popes, Cardinals and Bishops, I can understand the desire to pick the easy answer that the Catholic Church is indefectible (or some other excuse) therefore the Pope can't be the Pope etc. Were it that easy.   The sedevacantist 'solution' simply unravels the foundation of Catholic Dogma and Doctrine.  For example, it is a Dogma that there will be successors of St. Peter until the end of time ( see Vatican 1 link ), and if Fr. Conservatives will rightly point out ambiguous statements coming from Rome that can be read in both orthodox and heretical lights, depending on the reader, but they must also demand clarity from statements like the one from Bp.  + JMJ  Illness enables me to take a break from some other important issues and opine on some current events. Wars  While I've seen Trads and others vocally defend both sides involved in the Ukranian War, I withhold judgement of who is right or wrong because of the Fog of War (link) . Simply put, I acknowledge the fact that I am human and not omniscient. I have no way of confirming who is to blame for the hundreds if not thousands of people dying in War and Winter. I just know that people are dying in a War and at some point in the past leaders on both sides made decisions that led us to this point in time.  Hopefully, they will make better decisions in the future.  + JMJ  So, CMTV hasn't posted anything of note about the SSPX of late.  They were all over any scandal for a while, but as I suspected, if nothing real turned up they would move on to someone else. Lately, it's been an FSSP priest who has been accused of various sins.   Anyway, a couple of articles popped up in my regular search: A Mad, Rad, Trad Problem: In short - they lie, defame and smear.  + JMJ So it looks like Mr. Voris et al back away from calling the Pope a heretic or something he says is heretical . . . well, I typically don't do that, however if the Pope says something that is obviously heretical it isn't wrong to point this out and perhaps even to, in exasperation call the person who uttered those words a heretic. I listened to the part 1 of the pod cast and frankly, what is important is that he is simply asking people to compare what the Church taught before vs post V2.  I didn't hear him say that the pope isn't pope, but basically that he uttered heresy.   No surprise -that's why there was the correction.   Here's Mr Voris' admonition ...  + JMJ  CMTV continuous what can only be described as a self-righteous crusade against anyone who does automatically agree with them.  They have now twitter attacked Fr. Raymond Blake for not agreeing with them and criticizing them methods. CMTV seems to have become quite rabid in its defence of its self-appointed mission.  I'm just not certain what that mission is anymore. This is very similar to what seems to be happening with John Salza. One example is his criticism of decisions of the Church that Catholics can attend the masses of the SSPX.   I know that Mr. Voris et al didn't do their homework and dig into the stories around alleged abuse the SSPX.  Let's be clear, I'm not saying that abuse hasn't happened. What I am saying is that there is nothing to suspect that there is an orchestrated conspiracy to hide those that actually happened.  This seems to be what Voris et al are keen on proving.  +  JMJ  Just a tidbit to shine a little light on CMTV's coverage of the SSPX. The KBI announced in early 2019 that it had set up the task force at the request of Attorney General Derek Schmidt. The task force consists of six agents who investigate abuse reports from the public and review church documents from the state’s Catholic dioceses in Wichita, Salina, Dodge City and Kansas City, Kansas. It also investigates reports from the Society of St. Pius X, a breakaway Catholic group known for its traditional Latin Mass with a large branch in St. Marys in northeast Kansas. Key points: Task-force launched in 2019, 40,000 diocesan records reviewed or under review, 215 tips received, 122 cases opened.  P^3  Source CRUX

 + JMJ   This will be a short article, surprise!!!! The SSPX knew that it needed a system to protect both its members and faithful from abuse and from false allegations.  For North America the project was championed by Fr. Wegner, first in Canada, then in the USA. This was years before CMTV launched their campaign, so they can't make any claim that they prompted the SSPX into action.  So for reference, I have attached the US website as I am uncertain of an Canadian equivalent. https://plantoprotect.website/ en   P^3

 + JMJ Update: On Les Femmes - Susan Matthieson makes a case that CMTV et Niles have used selective editing to remove the context.  They noted that the KBI report notes that there are 205 reported cases throughout the Kansas dioceses and 120 cases were opened. KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has received 205 reports of clergy sexual abuse and opened 120 cases since it began investigating the state’s Catholic dioceses nearly two years ago, the agency said Friday. Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt asked the KBI in November 2018 to investigate Catholic clergy abuse in Kansas.
