Fourteen Years of Tradicat

+ JMJ As of today it has been 14 years since I moved from forums such as Angel Queen, Ignis Ardens, CathInfo and Suscipe Domine. It was an interesting start in 2012 ... and I wonder what will change in the next year?   By the time this posts - the SSPX consecration of four new bishops will most likely have occurred, maybe there will be another excommunication. Well . . . just have to drive off that bridge when we get there :-) P^3

The Foran Prayer Leaflets

+ JMJ I have often wondered about the Foran family. Thanks to the internet, now I know. Mr. Frank M. Foran passed away April 12, 1988. Frank M. Foran, 75, a funeral director in Summit for 50 years, was the founder of the Frank M. Foran Funeral Home there. He served for 35 years on the Argo-Summit-Bedford Park School Board. Mass for Mr. Foran, a resident of Palos Hills , will be said at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 8243 W. 111th St., Palos Hills. He died at home Monday. ... ... In 1958, he was founding president of the Catholic Funeral Directors Guild. ''He was an extremely friendly, outgoing person,'' said his son, Michael. ''He was also very Irish, so much so that he visited Ireland 7 times in the last 15 years and became a naturalized citizen of that country.'' Survivors, besides his son, include his wife, Jean...

Sorry Indy, Catholics Know Where To Find The Ark of the Covenant

+ JMJ Sorry Indy, Catholics know where to find (roughly) the Ark of the Covenant ... and it isn't in someone's temple or even in 4 It was also contained in the same writing, how the prophet, being warned by God, commanded that the tabernacle and the ark should accompany him, till he came forth to the mountain where Moses went up, and saw the inheritance of God. 5 And when Jeremias came thither he found a hollow cave: and he carried in thither the tabernacle, and the ark, and the altar of incense, and so stopped the door. 6 Then some of them that followed him, came up to mark the place: but they could not find it.7And when Jeremias perceived it, he blamed them, saying: The place shall be unknown, till God gather together the congregation of the people, and receive them to mercy. Stephen Hawking's - Brief Answers to the Big Questions

+ JMJ So Dr. Hawkings is making a bit of a splash from beyond the grave with the publication of his last book. Here's some quotes and my comments: "If there were such a God, I would like to ask, however did he think of anything as complicated as M-theory in eleven dimensions," Hawking wrote.  Something interesting about editing, one version of this quote made it sound very proud.  In this version what becomes obvious is that Hawking is simply ignorant in this regards.  Simply put, M-Theory is an expression of an understanding of reality, but as any model it is not a complete expression. I was curious as to what M-Theory is ... M-theory is a theory in physics that unifies all consistent versions of superstring theory. It's probably not the question most other people would ask a Supreme Being, but then, Hawking was one of a kind.(C-Net) So ... moving on. "There is no God. No one directs the universe," he writes in "Brief Answers t...

Tradicat On the Road

+ JMJ Just a note that Tradicat is still traveling a lot and ... even though I'd like to post a lot more often(er) ... I suspect that I'll be posting only once a month ... or so. P^3

Tradical Still Travelling

+ JMJ Just a reminder that I haven't given up blogging - just really busy with a number of activities. As with the last time I had to step back from blogging for a while, there seems to have been an up-tick in things that I'd like to write about as well as re-post. But ... it will have to wait (I guess this is a form of self-denial). I hope to return with articles in June. In the meantime, keep a good perspective on the crisis and how it is affecting people around you! God Bless and don't forget: P^3! Tradical

Are we alone?

+ JMJ There's been a lot of chatter lately about a UFO encounter that was recently published by the NY Times. Even on some Catholic forums there's be a debate about what the Church has 'said' about this etc. The curiosity into this matter is  ... frankly ... a little silly. As Catholics we know from Revelation that we are not alone. First there is God.   Next there are the Angels, both good and bad. Next there are Humans (both dead and alive). Then there are other creatures such animals etc. What this does not rule out is another order of creatures - just as the Angels are a separate order of creation from Mankind. With this base what can we reason about the 'encounters'? That there is either a: Natural, Preternatural, Supernatural ... explanation On the natural level people love to jump to the conclusion that it is 'aliens'.  However, that is a lazy way to look at it.  Especially we realize that the laws that govern the univ...

Tradical -What's in a name or pseudonym?

+ JMJ Just a quick word on my pseudonym. First, why do I use a pseudonym? Because my terms of employment would make it difficult to continue this blog as-is.  Plus, I have a rather large family to support and they like being housed, clothed, and fed. Second, why Tradical? When I started posting on forums in 2010, I needed an identity and I thought of the combination of Traditionalist and Radical. Because the world is so crazy that being Catholic is now seen as being a radical. I'm a Traditional Catholic ... so Tradical seemed a good choice. ... and now you know the rest of the story! P^3

Recent posts

+ JMJ Hi All, Just a quick note that I was traveling for the past few days. Hence, I was using the android blogger feature - which is a little awkward. That is the reason for the lack of formatting in some of the recent posts. I have tried to correct them . . . hopefully I didn't miss anything. P^3

Examination Results

+ JMJ Greetings all! I took my exam on Wednesday morning - one full hour with a little drama - but all indications are that I at least achieved the level that I need for my position. With the grace of God, bolstered by your and my families (not to mention the promised masses for the souls in purgatory) prayers I may have achieved the level necessary for any higher positions. I will know in about 8 business days my final results! This has been a long-haul as I've been in courses for the exam series for over 9 months.  It was hard and showed me the limits on my activities. Many thanks and rest assured of my prayers in return! P^3
