 + JMJ I've come across Gary Campbell's articles on Where Peter Is and noticed that he seems to have very strong biases, assumptions and reactions to anything that runs against these. Driven by curiosity I have found a copy of his letter to Bishop Fellay explaining his reasons for leaving the SSPX only five years after his ordination in Winona. I was surprised to learn that I was present for his ordination. Given this, I was interested in reviewing his letter to Bishop Fellay. There will be two versions in this post. The unblocked and blocked letter. The unblocked is, obviously the full letter. The block, meaning unnecessary text will be blocked out, is a technique I use to remove ancillary text while focusing on key phrases.  + JMJ   I can add to this 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 ... Still no compromise, a decade later.  All the while they (resistors) have, in varying degrees, compromised actual doctrines or principles. So ... still waiting for an answer. P^3

 + JMJ    So - what's up with the 'Resistance'???  The 'resistance' started off around the dining room table in the Asian district.  That's where Fr. Pfeiffer and Fr. Chazal started the ball rolling with their fiery YouTube sermons etc.  Thus began the saga of the resistance with their "Sell-Out" battle cry. Eventually, other like minded priests who, over the years, had been expelled from the SSPX joined them in a loose association of members.  Finally, they were joined by Bishop Williamson who crossed a line, was expelled and proceeded to start consecrating bishops (Faure, Aquino, and Zendejas).  For some reasons (sanity) he refused to consecrate Fr. Pfeiffer. So Fr. Pfeiffer attempted to get himself consecrated as a bishop ... not certain if he had to pay to receive that doubtful sacrament. Those were the glory days for the 'resistance' and as I predicted they didn't last long. Soon the reasons why they were expelled created fractures and...

 + JMJ   Amidst the shadows cast by the publication of Traditionis Custodes, I am working on a map of the 'resistance' splinters to put their reaction in contrast with that of the SSPX.  In the midst of this, I just came across Fr. Burfitt letter on the attempted consecration. Breaking it down (see below)  items 2 and 3 are key.  Just as the consecrating bishop is 'doubtful', even if he hadn't muffed the first attempt, Fr. Pfeiffer remain doubtful and therefore this impacts those men is attempts to 'ordain'. There were rumours that Fr. Pfeiffer was seeking episcopal consecration for years as he cast about for various bishops (also doubtful) to help him achieve this goal. I wonder how he convinced the 'doubtful' bishop to provide (twice) the doubtful consecration. What a mess!  This creates a danger to the souls of his followers and wonder where it will end. Will he go full sede and have himself 'elected' pontiff as others have done before him...

 + JMJ  Over the past few months I've noticed that the article on Fr. Pfeiffer's attempt to finally be consecrated bishop has been the more popular post. Periodically it'll get knocked down for a week or so when there is another popular post - but invariablly it migrates back to the top. I looked into the stats and whoa ... ... that is a lot of clicks.   Looking at all the posts, this one is #3 vs all time and still gets3 of so clicks per day. Pretty interesting, I wonder who is searching for this post. Just a bit of curiosity! P^3 P.S. Just in to be clear - this blog is not monetized.

 + JMJ I see that the 'resistors' are in a tizzy because Fr. Robinson used them as an example instead of the sedevacantists. What is interesting is that you can apply the exact same reasons against going to a sede mass as that of the 'resistors'. Namely: On the other extreme are those situations where an SSPX priest knows that a certain non-SSPX traditionalist venue is a grave danger to the faith . Frankly, most, if not all, of the Resistance Masses would fall into this category. In many cases, the behavior of these priests has been and continues to be scandalous, by their (A) spirit, their (B) preaching, and their indiscriminate conferral of the (C) priesthood and (D) episcopacy. To attend a Mass with such ongoing scandals poses a serious danger to the souls of the faithful. Yep, looking at A,B,C and D the shoe fits. On this basis the "resistors" = "sedevacantists". + JMJ Tradcatresist (TCR) popped up in my regular search with an article that at first I didn't understand what was the issue, but on further reading ... I think I have hit uponsomething that is bugging TCR. I'm going to put this back online and see what happens.   Update: There was a bit of an uproar over the consecrating bishop messing up / mumbling the key words of the consecration.  This, I am told, resulted in a do-over conditional consecration.  It would be funny if it weren't so serious and sad. :-(     I've had a series of "Error of the 'resistance' for years and now they've made their biggest mistake: Fr. Pfeiffer appears to have succeeded in conning some poor people into consecrating him a bishop. + JMJ Wikipedia "I don't trust them"   Words spoken by a 'resistor' to me at the height of the discussions with Rome, close to eight years ago. I just realized that for many of the people; including resistors, modern Catholic and sede-Vacantists; the crisis of the Church is emotionally dominated. The thought that their concept of the crisis of the Catholic Church is at least skewed if not completely falsecauses them to react through fear ... and in some cases irrationally. Basically, they 'have' to be right ... otherwise their world-view comes crashing around them. + JMJ According to Google, the series “Examining the Calgary SSPX School Policy” generated a fair number of 'views'. What is interesting is the distribution of the views. Basically, aside from the 'Gullible and those like him' post, the majority of views were on part 4b – where I dealt directly with the offending texts. Meaning that a number of the readers are focusing on only 17% of the posts. In fact the majority of readers passed right over part 4a, where I focused on the immediate context of the offensive text. Some of the responses that Google picked up were over at CathInfo (see bottom of article for texts that I copied on January 10, 2020). A look at the distribution and comments on CathInfo support my conclusion: People don't have patience to read a thorough analysis of a topic.  They seem to go along with their confirmation bias (see linked article) and look for elements that support their feelings instead of a rational conclusion....
