Pope Francis, the Apostolic Exhortation and the Age of Individual Conscience Featured

2744franciscate 00000001958Our Lord says "whoever puts away his wife and marries another commits adultery (Lk 16:18)."

But in Chapter 8 of “The Joy of Love” Francis says: Well, really, it depends on the circumstances.

In keeping with Our Lord’s divine admonition, the Church has constantly affirmed her “practice, which is based upon Sacred Scripture, of not admitting to Eucharistic Communion divorced persons who have remarried” unless, if they "cannot satisfy the obligation to separate, they take on themselves the duty to live in complete continence, that is, by abstinence from the acts proper to married couples.” (Familiaris consortio, 84)
But in Chapter 8 of “The Joy of Love,’ Francis says: That’s a bit much, isn’t? How can people live without “intimacy”? 

Our Lord says: “For my yoke is sweet and my burden light (Mt. 11:30).”

But in Chapter 8  of “The Joy of Love,’ Francis says: Not really.  Often it’s just too heavy for people, so we have to make allowances for those who cannot follow the "general rule." 

Saint Paul teaches infallibly the revealed truth that “God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that which you are able: but will make also with temptation issue, that you may be able to bear it.” (1 Cor. 10:13) 

But in Chapter 8 of “The Joy of Love” Francis says: Well, people just can’t help themselves, even if they know they’re sinning.  So we have to accept the "most generous response" they can offer at a given point in their “spiritual growth."

Chapter Eight of this ridiculous document, which overall is a haphazard jumble of the good, the bad and the merely incomprehensible (“time is greater than space”?), attempts to institutionalize situation ethics as “pastoral mercy.”  This is a mockery of the Magisterium and should be treated as such: with mockery, derision and calls for rejection by the entire Church.

Drudge Report declares that Francis has launched “The Age of Individual Conscience.”  Any Catholic commentator who, having read the document, dismisses this claim as “media spin” is engaging in deception.  That is precisely what Francis is attempting to do, if it were possible.

 + JMJ With all the mis-information about the SSPX rejecting the Second Vatican Council, I thought it would be useful to publish an article that focuses on the real issues that the SSPX has identified. Thoughts on: Finding Common Ground Between Rome and the SSPX

Pagliarani also said that his previous attempt at dialogue in 2019 was shut down by Rome because of an assumed irreconcilability. Thoughts on the Thoughts of a former SSPX priest

 + JMJ Well Gary Campbell, former SSPX Priest and now laicised has posted a new article on WherePeterIs. https://wherepeteris.com/thoughts-of-a-former-sspx-priest-on-the-july-1-consecrations/ These words stuck out: Heck, they have built a five-star hotel, wine bar, and Walmart on the opposite bank of the Rubicon! They are not in danger of entering a state of schism, for they are  already  in a state of schism. I believe he doth protest too much. All the actual facts indicate that the SSPX was not in a state of schism before July 1st and an examination of the decree of excommunication highlights the either ineptitude of those in charge or a desire to leave the barn door open. The chasm between an act of disobedience and act of schism remains just what is has always been - an inconvenient barrier that person(s) in Rome seek to bridge but appear incapable of succeeding. The News is an Addiction ...

 + JMJ People seem to be mesmerised by train wrecks.   They just can't turn away as the disaster creeps forward along train tracks towards the crossing where a car, truck, bus, trailer awaits its destruction. Trads have been watching the train wreck that is this crisis of the Catholic Church for decades. The trade war between the Canada and the US has reminded me that the news is addictive.   The first time I was addicted what from 2009 to  2014 when I was closely following the Rome / SSPX discussions.  I was at work watching a live-stream as Bishop Fellay disappeared into the Vatican. The lead-up to this moment had been intense as the 'resistance' got freaked out and the cultural cracks between doctrine and conspiracy theory widened. In the decade since then other things have emerged, wars, rumours of wars, conspiracies, celebrity Catholics etc. Now we have a new addiction and its name is Trump.
