Updated List of Teachings of the Catholic Church (Dogmas, De Fide, etc)

+ JMJ   As noted here, in 2013 and 2015, I posted two lists of the Teachings of Catholic Church( Dogmas of the Catholic Faith (Oct 2015) and De Fide teaching of the Catholic Church (Apr 2013) ).  I had assumed that the original authors had correctly identified all De Fide teachings, but I have discovered (via a comment on another blog about the lists) and while reviewing Ott - that the list contains Teachings of the Church that have a variety of levels of authority. So without further ado, here's a listing that includes only the De Fide teachings as identified by Ott. Note the page numbers are from my pdf version :-) P^3 https://twtext.com/article/1294354942661140480 Source: A List Of The Dogmas Of The Catholic Church - Fr. What is the Big Deal about Testing for SARS-CoV-2?

+ JMJ Take-Away: Yes, the tests aren't perfect (see map of this morning's research) but relying exclusively on a single test in a complex situation would be a mistake. The detection regime is designed to create a multi-factor analysis.  This includes whether or not a person was in contact with a confirmed case, isolation periods, testing at different points during the isolation period, whether a person is presenting symptoms, doctor diagnosis based on symptoms and other diagnostic tests.  So what is all the fuss about testing for SARS-CoV-2/ COVID-19??? I think it is that people are looking for perfection in an imperfect world. In a complex situation there are multiple factors to consider and tests that people see (i.e. stick up the nose) are just the tip of the iceberg. Testing in not my area of expertise, and I have to admit that when I was having a discussion with a friend about the efficacy of the Covid tests, it occurred to me that I don't know a lot about them. I m

Lethality of SARS-CoV-2 aka COVID

+ JMJ   [I am waiting on book, but will post this article as-is at the end of October ... and update as necessary]   Back in April I was discussing the lethality of SARS-CoV-2 compared with other diseases. At that point I wrote:   For the Spanish Influenza the data is estimated at greater than 2.5% ... see this 2006 NIH article (link) ), NIH 1918 Influenza: The Mother of all Pandemics - table below p19 (link) , and WHO Pandemic Influenza Risk Management (link) .  Nota Bene: The footnote on the Spanish Flu CFR listed below is that this is for the USA. The world wide data is probably unreliable due to the lack of records.  I'm guessing that the USA data below is more reliable as the US had better records. (See WHO Graph below) Side Note: Something  has been bothering me for a while. Why is the American CFR for Spanish Influenza between 2-3% ... it would seem the COVID-19 - while not as bad as H1N1-1918 - it is in the same league.  I will be digging into this more in another

The Tradicat Fact Checking Method

+ JMJ  I've had some interesting in-person conversations lately regarding my perspective on: COVID-19:  Yes, I believe it is a pandemic and ... I am researching whether or not it is on the same order of magnitude as the 1918 pandemic. Morality of getting immunized Yes, it is moral with the appropriate conditions No, I don't care what ++Vigano and + Schneider say on the matter. I've done the research and they're wrong. Safety of the vaccines  NO, I don't believe that I will die in 15 to 21 months because of the vaccine. Efficacy of the vaccines Yes, I believe they evoke an immune response.  For the record the Moderna response was found to be greater than that of the Pfizer.  What no one has asked is how I arrived at these perspectives.  Tradiate mentioned that I should, for your benefit, outline how I approach these topics. Experience: I am familiar with the scientific process and environment. I have the benefit of decades of experience working in a science environm

CRUX: KBI say it has opened 122 clergy sex abuse cases in Kansas

+  JMJ  Just a tidbit to shine a little light on CMTV's coverage of the SSPX. The KBI announced in early 2019 that it had set up the task force at the request of Attorney General Derek Schmidt. The task force consists of six agents who investigate abuse reports from the public and review church documents from the state’s Catholic dioceses in Wichita, Salina, Dodge City and Kansas City, Kansas. It also investigates reports from the Society of St. Pius X, a breakaway Catholic group known for its traditional Latin Mass with a large branch in St. Marys in northeast Kansas. Key points: Task-force launched in 2019, 40,000 diocesan records reviewed or under review, 215 tips received, 122 cases opened.  P^3  Source CRUX

SSPX and Plan To Protect

+ JMJ   This will be a short article, surprise!!!! The SSPX knew that it needed a system to protect both its members and faithful from abuse and from false allegations.  For North America the project was championed by Fr. Wegner, first in Canada, then in the USA. This was years before CMTV launched their campaign, so they can't make any claim that they prompted the SSPX into action.  So for reference, I have attached the US website as I am uncertain of an Canadian equivalent. https://plantoprotect.website/ en   P^3

FSSXP.News: Traditionis Custodes Part 6

+ JMJ   For those who attend the SSPX for the Sacraments and a bit of sanity in a Church gone crazy, be grateful for those who trod this path before you.   P^3   Courtesy of FSSPX.News   Special Dossier : “Traditionis Custodes” (6) September 05, 2021 Source: fsspx.news In this unprecedented period of crisis, faced with this new attack against the Tridentine Mass, it is helpful to look back on this sermon given by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, during the priestly ordinations on June 29, 1982 at the Ecône Seminary. The founder of the Society of Saint Pius X drew a parallel between the Passion of Christ and the Passion of His Church in our era. Only faith will allow us to remain standing during the ordeal, like the Blessed Virgin Mary at the foot of the Cross: stabat Mater . Briefly, I would like to try to explain what I think our course of action should be in the fa

FSSXP.News: Traditionis Custodes Part 5

+ JMJ Pope Francis makes me happy about one thing: That the farce of a 'nice', 'accepting', 'liberal' Catholic Church is over.  There's no one so intolerant as a Liberal in the face of a non-Liberal. P^3   Courtesy of FSSPX.news   Special Dossier: “Traditionis Custodes” (5) September 03, 2021 Source: fsspx.news In the Motu proprio Traditionis Custodes, Pope Francis has implemented a battery of measures seeking to circumscribe the Tridentine Mass, with the hope of making it disappear to the exclusive advantage of the Mass of Paul VI. Such relentlessness prompts some questions: The first concerns the motives, published or hidden, given in the accompanying letter. The second tackles the basic question: the link between the Council and the Novus Ordo. The third concerns the principal reactions to the motu proprio. The fourth seeks to defin

FSSPX.News: Press Review: Traditionis Custodes in the Context of the Current Crisis (1)

+ JMJ  The SSPX has published what appears to be the first of several press reviewss on TC. So for the record! P^# Courtesy of FSSPX.News Press Review: Traditionis Custodes in the Context of the Current Crisis (1) October 10, 2021 Source: fsspx.news There have been many comments on and analyses of the motu proprio Traditionis Custodes this summer. All place Francis’s decision to limit the celebration of the traditional Mass as much as possible in the context of the crisis which is currently shaking the Church, but with very different perspectives. Questioning the Hermeneutics of Continuity In Le Figaro of August 14, Cardinal Robert Sarah, former prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments - without ever citing the name of the Pope - sees in the motu proprio a questioning of what he calls “the credibility of the Church.
