+ JMJ I am weirded out when someone uses the Orans posture ... now I know why - it is a posture reserved from the priest.. The laity are not priests - so they should be using the posture! P^3 On September 3, 1958 the Sacred Congregation for Rites issued a document titled De musica sacra et sacra liturgia ( Instruction on Sacred Music and Sacred Liturgy ). This document stated, “Since the Pater Noster is a fitting, and ancient prayer of preparation for Communion, the entire congregation may recite this prayer in unison with the priest in low Masses; the Amen at the end is to be said by all” ( DM Prayers and Hymns § 32 ). It was at this time that the faithful were given permission to pray the Our Father with the priest. However, the faithful maintained the same posture as before - standing, with their hands folded in prayer. Prior to this Instruction , the priest prayed the Our Father on behalf of the faithful. The Orans Posture is representative of praying on behalf of others...

+ JMJ A thought just occurred to me as I watched the attached link sent by a friend ... even though the video is non-SSPX ... I thought perhaps we need to ditch the label 'Traditional Catholicism' in exchange for what it really is: Catholicism. I'm a Catholic, everyone else that attaches themselves to the errors that swirl within the Catholic Church are hyphenated Catholics - i.e. Modern-Catholics.  Better yet, perhaps they should just identify themselves by the original label given by Leo XIII: Liberal-Catholics Frankly, I'd rather be Catholic ... as I have been since my baptism! P^3

I was talking with my husband about some things that I had done in the early years of our marriage. ... or more correctly, what I hadn't done. He said: You really need to write this down for our kids and for anyone who reads Tradicat! Early on, I was focused on finding good deals for clothing for our expanding family.  This translated into a fair amount of time hunting for deals at garage sales and thrift stores. Looking back, it was a lot of hours that perhaps could have been spent better.  Although, I thoroughly enjoyed the thrill of the hunt! So for those mother's reading this blog, here's what I would tell a my younger self: Start with a clear end goal in mind.  → Envision what you want your house to look like! Make a list of what you need before you shop. → When that list is met ... Don't let fear rule you.  → There will always be thrift stores to get something you've forgotten. → Stuff is necessary to raising a family but stuff can ...

Viva Cristo Rey! Long live Christ the King! This was the battle cry of the defenders of the Faith in Mexico. It was the last words of Catholic martyrs shot in front of the firing squad. As Catholics we should all be ready to shed our blood for the faith. Of course, we may wonder if we would have the courage, but not to fear....as long as the will is there, God will supply the grace....we may not feel as if we have the courage now because we don't have the grace yet! Pray everyday for final perseverance...and in the meantime be encouraged by the devotion of Catholics around the world. The faith is not dead. Did you know that the good Catholic Priest is an endangered species? Every time I talk with our Novus Ordo friends I am reminded of this. We all know the abuses that go on in the Catholic Church today. A good priest has to fight hard to stay faithful. A priest must give up the possibility of ever having a family in order to dedicate himself to the salvation of souls. Some may scoff...."Oh, they have it easy"....but you don't see these people rushing off to join the seminary. The fact is, it's a lonely life. A husband and father has his consolation from the love and support of his family, whereas a priest walks the royal way of the cross alone. True, a good priest will seek fcomfort from the Blessed Sacrament and Our Lady, but priests are human too, and subject to discouragement. A priest is our lifeline. Where would we be without our priests? They bring heaven to earth through the Mass. If it wasn't for the Holy Sacrifice being offered around the world, God ...
