I find it an interesting coincidence that today's Sunday Gospel of the Eighth Sunday after Pentecost is Luke 16: 1-9:
1 Dicebat
autem et ad discipulos suos: Homo quidam erat dives, qui habebat
villicum: et hic diffamatus est apud illum quasi dissipasset bona
ipsius. | 1 And
he said also to his disciples: There was a certain rich man who had a
steward: and the same was accused unto him, that he had wasted his
goods. | 1 And
he said to his disciples, There was a rich man that had a steward, and a
report came to him that this steward had wasted his goods. |
2 Et vocavit illum, et ait illi: Quid hoc audio de te? redde rationem villicationis tuæ: jam enim non poteris villicare. | 2 And
he called him, and said to him: How is it that I hear this of thee?
give an account of thy stewardship: for now thou canst be steward no
longer. | 2 Whereupon
he sent for him, and said to him, What is this that I hear of thee?
Give an account of thy stewardship, for thou canst not be my steward any
longer. |
Eventually, God will call upon Pope Francis to give an accounting of his pontificate.
I believe it will be hard to find a more damaging event than this motu proprio.
