So ... this article caught my eye in all the noise about the SSPX.
COMMENTARY: While the Catholic Church faces serious difficulties, the situation is not as dire as the SSPX claims. The best counterargument the Church can offer is a renewed focus on the many things that are right with the Church. National Catholic Register: Is the Church as Troubled as the SSPX Claims?
This article misses the point entirely.
The question is whether or not there actually is evidence of what the SSPX claims.
Soooo for example, are heretical views allowed and proponents encouraged?
Off the top of my head:
- Continued debate on priestesses and female deacons in the Catholic Church
- Doctrinal obfuscation - i.e. excluding the Filioque
- German Bishops
- Treatment of Chinese Bishops vs SSPX
- Fiducia Supplicans
- Amoris Laetitia
- On going persecution of Traditional Catholicism and orders (FFI, Knights of Malta as example) that has been ongoing since Vatican II.
This is just the broad strokes that occurred to me.
It isn't about what's 'right' in the Church - it IS about the seriousness of what is wrong.
The 'Rupture' is what is wrong and it isn't a minor detail.
