Interestingly, I live in a diocese with ~ 130k Catholics. Number of ordinations - 2 in the last 7 years or so ... or was that the neighboring diocese?
Can you tell the difference? I sure can.
The UK data has some other interesting stats that I think bear discussion: Baptisms, Marriages and Receptions into the Catholic Church (of key interest in a protestant country).
Baptisms, provide some insight to the internal growth of the Church as well as the adherence to the Catholic Teaching on birth control. Marriages likewise provide insight to the vitality of the Church as families are a core element of a society. Finally, the missionary zeal of the Church is reflected in the conversions that occur - not only because of active efforts but because the Church presents itself as the Church of Christ the bearer of truth.
I don't have data from the US or World, but I think I am safe in making the assumption that these UK trends roughly parallel trends elsewhere in the Catholic sphere.
Anyone who doesn't believe that the Catholic Church is in a crisis is denying reality.

This spike is of interest and while we can't blame it all on V2, the response of the Bishops of the Catholic Church to Humane Vitae. I think that the 'Winnipeg Statement' says it all.
