Resistance Dream: Fr. Epiney (Ally of +Lefebvre): “Ecône is Changing”

+
JMJ

I'm not going waste my time listening to the sermon to see if they've taken it out of context. I just want to point out a little issue with the following:
"What to think of all this? First of all, one is amazed: ... a conciliar bishop, a disciple of Benedict XVI and friend of Francis, is accepted in a Fraternity school in Wangs; and, on the other hand, Bishop Williamson, who was consecrated by Archbishop Lefebvre in 1988, is excluded from the Fraternity.
Let's unpack a couple of things.

First, one other bishop retired to the SSPX ... Bishop Lazo. In addition,
Bishop John Bosco Manat Chuabsamai associated with the SSPX.  So if Bishop Huander wants to retire the SSPX what is the problem???  I guess it is called guilt by association.

Next, it is obvious why Bishop Williamson was expelled from the SSPX - gross insubordination.  If any member of a religious order is incapable of rendering the obedience required of them ... then they get expelled .... this isn't rocket science people.

    1. Hi,
I can't recall you previous comments.

Bp Huonder: He comes in the spirit of Pope Francis to pray discern integrate and contribute to Church unity,

... note ... you didn't provide a link to his actually saying this ... but even if he did ...

Your interpretation: Bring the Society into the open, apostate arms of V2.

That isn't what is implied - you've made that jump.

By the way, V2 was still a council of the Catholic Church ... I've even used it to prove to modern Catholics the Dogma of EENS.

This is what the press release says:

On Monday, May 20, 2019, Pope Francis relieved Bishop Vitus Huonder of his duties as Bishop of the Diocese of Chur (Switzerland), while appointing an administrator with a view to the election of his successor.

According to an intention that he stated long ago, Bishop Huonder is retiring to a house of the Society of Saint Pius X. The one sole purpose of this step is to dedicate himself to prayer and silence, to celebrate the traditional Mass exclusively, and to work for Tradition, the only way of renewing the Church.

The Society of Saint Pius X appreciates Bishop Huonder’s courageous decision and rejoices to be able to provide him with the spiritual and priestly surroundings that he desires so deeply. May this example be followed by others, so as to “restore everything in Christ”.

      May 20, 2019

His Excellency Vitus Huonder Don Davide Pagliarani

Bishop Emeritus of Chur Superior General of the SSPX

I tend to take him at his word.

Here's what I found on Eponymous Flower:

At the request of kath.net, the diocese of Chur explains: "We are not commenting on the conspiracy theory of a Holocaust denier. We note, however, that Pope Francis wants to accompany and integrate rather than to exclude. In this sense, the Holy Father also wants to proceed with the Society of Saint Pius X and seek rapprochement. This wish is fulfilled by the Bishop of Chur through his contacts with the Society. Theories that construct a contrast between the wishes of the Pope and the diocese of Chur have no foundation.”

Note well, this is not a quote from Bishop Huonder but from the Diocesan office.

So ... again, I stick with what we know they actually said - ie what is in the press release.

    2. Hi again,

I found the actual quotation at:
      https://international.la-croix.com/news/retired-swiss-bishop-to-live-in-sspx-home/10152#

"... Like Pope Francis, I would like to offer my contribution to church unity, not to marginalize but to discern, accompany and assist [the SSPX] to integrate," he said. ..."

Quick question: Where is the Catholic Church?

Is it sinful to attend the Novus Ordo (New Mass) - Is it Sinful to Not Attend the Novus Ordo on Sunday?

+ JMJ A non-SSPX Catholic is upset over the SSPX statements on not attending the Novus Ordo Missae. Ladies and gentlemen, what the SSPX, or at least its website editor, is advocating is a mortal sin against the Third Commandment.  Unless the priest deviates from the language of the Sacramentary, the consecration, and thus the rest of Mass is to be considered valid.  No one may elect not to attend Mass simply because abuses are occurring therein.  Might I suggest that such absenteeism is its own abuse?  The Third Commandment binds under mortal sin.  Father So-And-So from the SSPX has no authority whatsoever to excuse attendance at Mass, be that Mass ever so unpalatable. Source:Restore DC Catholicism Well, this is interesting. First why does the SSPX issue this statement? Because it is sinful to put your faith in danger by attending a protestant service.  It is likewise dangerous to put your faith in danger by attending a protestantized mass (ie the Novus Ordo Missae

Morning and Evening and other sundry Prayers

+ JMJ Along the theme of P^3 (Prayer, Penance, Patience), and for my own reference ... here is a collection of Morning and Evening prayers from the Ideal Daily Missal along with some additional prayers. In this crisis of the Church, I do not think it is possible to do too much prayer, penance and have patience. P^3

War: Families

+ JMJ  It is unavoidable that the conflict between the Church and the World will ... inspite of the Church basically surrendering to the World during and after the Second Vatican Council ... enter the family. First, it is unlikely that an entire family will be "Traditional Catholic". This will lead to conflict between the various "sides" of the family.  Next there is the impact of the world around them.  In other words, you can't keep your children out of the world indefinitely. There are so many pressures and stessors that work against keeping the Catholic Life that it seems that heroic virtue is needed in this day and age. A final aspect is related to the second.  Their companions, especially if they are not Catholic. In some cases you may hope that your children will influence instead of be influenced. In this case you will have to intervene if they are underage and if adults, pray and act prudently. With all these forces stacked up against you, the best you

Magisterium and Levels of Assent

+ JMJ Understanding the levels of assent to be given to the teachings of the Church is a critical success factor in walking the knife's edge during this crisis of the Church.  The levels of assent are generally associated with the theological grades of certainty, which are not surprisingly mirrored by the censures for contravening the teachings of the various levels.
