The following is a round up of news articles accompanied with my thoughts.
Overall, things the trajectory of the Catholic Church is, no surprise, still in a death spiral. The attempt to pull out of the spiral (Pope Benedict XVI) was short lived.
So now we obviously wait patiently to see what the next pontificate brings.

- The next two are a little bit about the sedes. I've known some that were very reasonable, logical and polite. Some others just took the idea and ran with it. One believes that there hasn't been a valid Pope since Leo XIII or something like that. Others go and 'elect' their own pope. I've personally met Victor Von Pentz when he was an SSPX seminarian. He had some interesting ideas even then ...

- Sacraments, Jurisdiction and Misc Article on Sleeping
- I remember reading about pre-conciliar rules concerning jurisdiction for the Sacrament of Confession. At that time a priest, outside the danger of death, could not hear confession in a diocese where he has no faculties (see below). I brought this up at a meeting where some priests were in attendance and they indicated that they didn't need permission. Further research revealed that the law has been changed in favour of a properly incardinated priest can hear confessions in any diocese - provided the local ordinary (bishop) has not prescribed otherwise. This is actually a change for the better as it makes the Sacrament of Confession more easily accessible.
- Hence it is that a priest visiting in a diocese other than his own cannot hear confession without special authorization from the bishop. Every priest, however, can absolve anyone who is at the point of death, because under those circumstances the Church gives all priests jurisdiction. As the bishop grants jurisdiction, he can also limit it by "reserving" certain cases (see RESERVATION) and he can even withdraw it entirely. (Catholic Encyclopedia)
