So ... Catholics (non-SSPX) are being tainted by remote-association with Catholics (SSPX). The only substantial difference is that they have taken longer to come to the realization that driving with a blind-fold on results in a car crash.

So Catholics who love the True Mass are now faced with the same dilemma as the Archbishop faced in 1976, except that for Lefebvre it was no dilemma and he saw his Catholic duty as a bishop quite plainly. I can see that there is much anxiety around the statements of Cardinal Roche but perhaps contemplating disobedience is a big thing to ask from priests and faithful for whom the idea of breaking with Rome goes completely against the grain. For so long many, but not all, have criticised SSPX for their ‘schism’ or ‘disobedience’ but now they themselves will have to make the fateful choice. I remember when my wife and I went to our first ‘disobedient’ Mass with SSPX in Bath. The hostility from our family, friends and other Catholics in our former parish was overwhelming. Nowadays abandoning your parish church for an illicit True Mass isn’t so shocking in many places because the Catholic community spirit has been severely depleted thanks to the huge amount of lapsations.https://onepeterfive.com/lefebvre-what-comes-next/

The next article comes to us from 1P5, which is still a good rag, even though  Skojec appears to have lost the Faith.  His is a cautionary tale, told several others that have discovered and then recanted that Traditional Teachings of the Catholic Church and all that attends to it.

Lastly, we have a few questions - What is full communion?  Who is in full communion with the Church? Really, the question is are we in communion with the Pope or are we in communion with the Catholic Church?  What does communion even mean?

I've been reflecting on the 'ministers of euthanasia' and am wondering if the evil religious (sisters, nun, brothers, priests, monks, bishop, cardinals, and popes) are trying to euthanize the Catholic Church - the Mystical Body of Christ.

I suspect that many can't handle the reality that the Catholic Church is not accepting of the modernist nonsense.

Correcting Caricatures of the SSPX

+ JMJ Introduction First, a little background on the FSSP St. John Vianney Chapel in Mission Hill Kansas.  After the 1988 consecrations and the foundation of the FSSP there was a consistent trend of Dioceses allowing the SSPX to run chapels and churches near SSPX locations. As with any 'organizational change' there were those who didn't agree with the change and no longer sought the sacraments from the SSPX. I heard from friends that in that era there was a lot of anger and tension (on both sides) between the St. Mary's SSPX and Mission Hill FSSP.  Second, there have been caricatures of the SSPX position (some are evident below) in which personal opinions of SSPX priests and laity are taken as the official position or conflated with those of sedevacantists or 'resistance'. Recent Perspectives of the SSPX Position In the shadow of the consecrations a fever pitch accusations and opinions how surfaced - many of which include caricatures of the SSPX positions, of w...

SSPX: Why Is the SSPX So Criticized?

+ JMJ As long as you are ok with what happens in other Catholic Churches, Traditional Catholics will be left 'alone'.  This is a paraphrase of words spoken by an Archbishop to Traditional Catholics (with a sprinkling of SSPX) who had requested the Traditional Latin Mass under Summorum Pontificum. This reflects that attitude of the Church towards anyone who takes issue with some of the ambiguities of Vatican II and the post-conciliar magisterium.  If you reject the papacy but are ok with V2, the New Mass, and what Rome has stated since 1965 - then you are welcome. Question some of the more abiguous statements and ask for Rome to realise that a circle is not a square - then you are in for a world of hurt. This is where the SSPX exists and has existed from almost its very first moments. Pointing out contradictions with previous magisterium is not acceptable - under any condition. Why? Because it will cause the whole V2 house of cards to fall. I guess only when the contradic...

Stories: Early Days of Tradition Part 8 - Convention Centre Chapel

+ JMJ I came to Tradition a few years after they had bought a chapel. My wife told me of the earlier years when Fr. Normandin would come to town and Mass would be held in a room at the convention centre.  He'd start by blessing the room and then proceed with Mass. This went on for a while before the one of the faithful found a small hall that would suit just fine. They pooled their money and bought the building.  Then came the work as the retiree's refinished the floor, setup the sactuary. Oh, did I mention that I heard that the hall had been used by a motorcycle gang? The floor needed a lot of work.  I remember seeing pictures of the founders working to make the hall into a fitting place for the Sacrifice of the Mass. That little chapel would be a refuge like many others serviced by Fr. Normandin.  From Thunderbay, Ontrario to Nanaimo, British Columbia - the SSPX chapels are all the results of Fr. Normandin's missionary work in those desperate times. Without h...

If Pope Francis is bad - what about Pope St. John Paul II et al?

+ JMJ So here we are on the apparent cusp of yet another post conciliar Papal canonization. This time we have Pope's John-Paul I and Paul VI canonizations to 'look forward' to. This follows, obviously, on the heels of Pope St. John Paul II's canonization? So the first question that I usually encounter is: How is it possible, keeping in mind the doctrine on infallibility of canonizations (note doctrine not dogma), that Pope St. John Paul II is a Saint? First, what does it mean???  According to the doctrine of dogmatic facts - it is the universal opinion of Theologians that canonizations are infallible.  It means that they enjoy the beatific vision.  ... that's it.  That is the doctrine and it is at the level of universal opinion of theologians.  It is called a 'dogmatic fact'. That they made mistakes is obvious.  That the miracles seem to not be very miraculous is also a bit of an issue. Here's something to consider: The rush that surrou...

Morning and Evening and other sundry Prayers

+ JMJ Along the theme of P^3 (Prayer, Penance, Patience), and for my own reference ... here is a collection of Morning and Evening prayers from the Ideal Daily Missal along with some additional prayers. In this crisis of the Church, I do not think it is possible to do too much prayer, penance and have patience. P^3
