Murder and Mayhem: Ministers of Euthanasia

 +

JMJ

I'm still overloaded, but there are a few events, incidents and thoughts that bear some consideration.

Euthanasia in Canada

In Canada euthanasia is called "Medical Assistance In Dying".

While the 'slippery slope' argument is regarded as a fallacy (Wiki Article link), the deletion of a principle was foreseen to enable a much wider application of the 'service'.  Plus there was the example of other countries.

An SSPX priest told me that in the Netherlands they were called to give the last rites to an elderly grandmother.  The priest arrived and there was a party going on and the Grandmother was in no distress. A family member explained that she was going to die the next day and this was her farewell party. The contradiction was obvious to the priest.

In Canada, there are no abortion laws as they were struck down decades ago.  The result is medical abortion (the technical term to exclude spontaneous abortion which is commonly called a miscarriage) is available any time up to birth.

This set the stage for euthanasia and I have remarked that the negation of the principle taking an innocent baby life would eventually result in taking an elderly person's life - voluntarily or otherwise.

It is sad, but an indication of how weak the Catholic Church really is when a country in which Catholics represent  29.4%  of the population (it used to be higher - around 40%) has both abortion and euthanasia.

That is the reason why this article is labelled as Crisis of the Church.

I have also noted that while there are noble efforts of the various pro-life organizations, they don't seem as well organized as the pro-death / choice organizations.

This lack of strategic cooperation will, in my opinion, make it a very, very long road to recovery.

Monsignor Robert Hugh Benson was prophetic when he wrote these words in the Lord of the World:

For instance, when a volor [aircraft] crashes in front of her, Mabel's "heart leap[s] in relief" when she witnesses the Government's Ministers of Euthanasia rush in to dispatch the wounded and dying. Her husband later comforts her by saying that she knows that "the euthanisers [sic] are the real priests." Source

The Ongoing Assault on the Tridentine Mass

The Mantra (link) is firmly in place as Cardinal Roche has made clear and just like a new religion of man emerged in 'The Lord of the World' we have a New Mass, New Theology and ergo, as some have said, a New Religion.

Before you trot off to the wrong conclusion. The modernism is, simply a movement with  the Church. Like a cancer festering the flesh and bones of the Body of Christ.  But Our Lord waits giving all the chance to repent.

Cdl Roche's words are simply and echoing of another mantra that has been uttered for decades and we should thank him for making the situation so crystal clear.

The theology of the Church has changed,” argued Roche. “Whereas before the priest represented, at a distance, all the people – they were channeled through this person who alone was celebrating the Mass. ... it is not only the priest who celebrates the liturgy but also those who are baptized with him, and that is an enormous statement to make.

This is a distortion of the actual Teaching of the Church on this point of theology.

Suffice to say, it seems that many of the sisters, nuns, brothers, monks, priests, bishops, cardinals, and perhaps even popes have become Ministers of Euthanasia of the immortal souls of the faithful, condemning them to an eternity of suffering in Hell.

That is not to say that there aren't those who are stand with Our Lord Jesus Christ, but the former occupy the positions of power and the good are too weak, too unorganized (like at the beginning of the Second Vatican Council) to mount a defence of the Catholic Truth.

Conclusion

The reality is that there is nothing new in these events, Traditional Catholics have seen them in the past, hopefully it will help some awaken from their stupor.

The news can be depressing, but the reality is that nothing has changed for us. We need to work for our salvation and those under our care. Once that is in underway, then we can offer a hand to others.

There is consolation to be found in this, God is Just and we are not to judge the state of the soul of others, we have to answer for ourselves. That will be quite enough for anyone to do.

The Curious Case of Steve Skojec and the Dangers of Deep Diving into the Crisis Sub-Titled: The Failings of Others

+ JMJ It's been a while now since Steve Skojec sold 1P5 and abandoned the Catholic Faith. I've been a 'Trad' since 1982 and in those 40+ years I seen this death-spiral before with a similar end point. It seems that anyone who jumps into the fray unprepared for the enormous task of righting wrongs will, eventually, become discouraged by not the task but the people who surround them.   I remember when Skojec complained of the treatment his family received from a traditional priest.  This seems to have been the start of the end for him. So what can we learn from the likes of Steve Skojec, Michael Voris (maybe?), Louie Verrecchio, Gerry Matatix and other celebrity Catholics? Probably quite a lot about what not to do. First, don't burn out on the crisis?  When you burn out, on work or anything else, little things assume a more greater importance than they are due.   This is one of my 'canary in the coal mine' signals that I've been stretching myself too th...

Dogmas of the Catholic Faith (de fide) - Expanded Listing

+ JMJ A friend had mentioned that he has seen a longer list of truths of the Faith than the one I posted here .  I have finally discovered it online. I have yet to completely determine what dogmas were missed in the original, those I have found are highlighted. Source: A List Of The Dogmas Of The Catholic Church - Fr. Homily vs Sermon

+ JMJ Something that I've noticed is that Modern Catholics use the phrase 'Homily' instead of 'Sermon'. I've often wondered about this difference. Here's what I found Catholic Encyclopedia (1910) Homily: ...Since Origen's time homily has meant, and still means, a commentary, without formal introduction, division, or conclusion, on some part of Sacred Scripture , the aim being to explain the literal, and evolve the spiritual, meaning of the Sacred Text.  ... Wikipedia Sermon: : A sermon is an oration , lecture , or talk by a member of a religious institution or clergy . Sermons address a scriptural, theological, religious, or moral topic, usually expounding on a type of belief, law, or behavior within both past and present contexts. Elements of the sermon often include exposition, exhortation, and practical application.   Catholic Encyclopedia (1910) Sermon: As to preaching at the present day, we can clearly trace the influe...

Becoming Traditional Catholic Part I

+ JMJ It is a big step from the non-Traditional to Traditional Catholic World. First of all, the Trad world is much smaller, isolated and under siege. This leads to a number of interesting elements that a person making the transition needs to take into account. The Trad World Is Smaller It is a fact that in the states there are about 30,000 Traditional Catholics who support the SSPX and about 3,000 in Canada.  The other Traditionalit orders (FSSP, ICK, etc), I assume, are in the same ball park if not smaller. Let put that in perspective, in my area there are 270,000 non-Traditional Catholics. Consequently, aside from the larger centers,  a Traditional 'Parish' or Mass Centre will be 200 people or less. This has the advantage of being like an extended family and cozy. It has the disadvantage that any crazy 'uncles' in that family will be in plain sight. Be forewarned that any eccentricity that would be drowned in a sea of people in a non-Traditiona...
