This post by Dr. Malloy reminded me of the 'healings' taking place in some circles of the Charismatic movement (now an active virus in the Catholic Church).
Amorth quotes the self-narrative of someone who was possessed, unwittingly. This person had many preternatural powers given to him by evil demons. He later discovered the origin of these remarkable powers. He repented, thanks be to Jesus Christ.
But let us look at one of his powers. He could, of course, know hidden truths. This is one major characteristic of the possessed. But he could also take away pain or diminish it. This is how deep the powers of angels run. They can block pain. Remarkable. Imagine consulting this possessed person for a healing. One would only be led away from the grace of God.
