The Synod is Irrelevant

+
JMJ

The synod is simply a meeting of invited bishops to provide their thoughts and opinions to the pope

Unlike the Second Vatican Council, it has no magisterial authority.  Period. (SSPX: How much authority does a Synod have?)

All these synods do is provide a venue for prelates to proclaim their orthodoxy or lack thereof.

It simply is an opportunity for the chasm between the good and the bad to be clearer.

For the fence sitters like the neo cats ,including cmtv et all,  they will be inexorably confronted with any inconsistencies in their principles.

As will we all.

For traditional Catholics this synod is just a rerun of the second Vatican council and all the missed teaching opportunities in the intervening decades.

The separating of the wheat from the chaff is a good thing.

So we can dispense with any hand wringing ( the ain't it awful syndrome ) and marvel at the power of God to keep the Church in existence with such human leaders as these.

The Church, taking the analogy of Pope Francis to its logical conclusion, is a field hospital on the field of battle that has been over run by the enemy.  All that we await is for the king and his generals to rally the troops. Note 1

Keep Catholic Dogmas, Doctrine and Principles and work out your salvation in fear and trembling as we see the "mighty" of the Church fall.

Note 1
The Church is actually the Mystical Body of Christ and the Kingdom of God.  Just in case there was any doubt.

Dogmas of the Catholic Faith (de fide) - Expanded Listing

+ JMJ A friend had mentioned that he has seen a longer list of truths of the Faith than the one I posted here .  I have finally discovered it online. I have yet to completely determine what dogmas were missed in the original, those I have found are highlighted. Source: A List Of The Dogmas Of The Catholic Church - Fr. Morning and Evening and other sundry Prayers

+ JMJ Along the theme of P^3 (Prayer, Penance, Patience), and for my own reference ... here is a collection of Morning and Evening prayers from the Ideal Daily Missal along with some additional prayers. In this crisis of the Church, I do not think it is possible to do too much prayer, penance and have patience. P^3

The Curious Case of Steve Skojec and the Dangers of Deep Diving into the Crisis Sub-Titled: The Failings of Others

+ JMJ It's been a while now since Steve Skojec sold 1P5 and abandoned the Catholic Faith. I've been a 'Trad' since 1982 and in those 40+ years I seen this death-spiral before with a similar end point. It seems that anyone who jumps into the fray unprepared for the enormous task of righting wrongs will, eventually, become discouraged by not the task but the people who surround them.   I remember when Skojec complained of the treatment his family received from a traditional priest.  This seems to have been the start of the end for him. So what can we learn from the likes of Steve Skojec, Michael Voris (maybe?), Louie Verrecchio, Gerry Matatix and other celebrity Catholics? Probably quite a lot about what not to do. First, don't burn out on the crisis?  When you burn out, on work or anything else, little things assume a more greater importance than they are due.   This is one of my 'canary in the coal mine' signals that I've been stretching myself too th...

Introducing a New Series: Stories

+ JMJ  Over the decades (yep that long) I've heard and repeated a lot of stories to my family and friends - about family and friends :-). It was suggested that I pull them together and preserve here a record of these stories for the future. Some will be religious in nature, others about events that I witnessed directly or heard from other Traditional Catholics. So I have created a new Series called, for obvious reasons, Stories, in which I will recount the stories I've heard of Traditional Life, concealing the identities of those involved and embellishing with relish where my memory fails. Afterall, they're just stories. P^3

What's Up For 2026?

+ JMJ So the Vatican 2 (V2) crisis is well into its 60th year and the actual roots go back over a hundred years. Is there a possibility that the Catholic Church could take a step in the right direction in 2026? So here's my thoughts on the possible events and the probability of them occurring. Any element in the sub-notes is contingent upon primary element. The Canonical discussions between Rome and the SSPX are restarted (33%) The Pope removes the infamous "footnotes" (55%) The SSPX enters into a canonically regular life within the Catholic Church (85%) The SSPX Consecrates new Bishops (33%) With Papal Mandate (70%) Pope Leo XIV nullifies the Traditionis Custodes (18%) Neo-Modernists revolt (30%) Neo-Modernists enter into schism (50%) Just my first thoughts - - - we'll see what God's providence provides this year.
