The Synod is Irrelevant

The synod is simply a meeting of invited bishops to provide their thoughts and opinions to the pope

Unlike the Second Vatican Council, it has no magisterial authority.  Period. (SSPX: How much authority does a Synod have?)

All these synods do is provide a venue for prelates to proclaim their orthodoxy or lack thereof.

It simply is an opportunity for the chasm between the good and the bad to be clearer.

For the fence sitters like the neo cats ,including cmtv et all,  they will be inexorably confronted with any inconsistencies in their principles.


As will we all.

For traditional Catholics this synod is just a rerun of the second Vatican council and all the missed teaching opportunities in the intervening decades.

The separating of the wheat from the chaff is a good thing.

So we can dispense with any hand wringing ( the ain't it awful syndrome ) and marvel at the power of God to keep the Church in existence with such human leaders as these.

The Church, taking the analogy of Pope Francis to its logical conclusion, is a field hospital on the field of battle that has been over run by the enemy.  All that we await is for the king and his generals to rally the troops. Note 1

Keep Catholic Dogmas, Doctrine and Principles and work out your salvation in fear and trembling as we see the "mighty" of the Church fall.

+ JMJ I've observed three core reactions during this crisis of the Catholic Church. The Pope can't be wrong, therefore this is the New Springtime The Pope is infallible in certain conditions and there is a problem with many things that have been said, done and written, during and after the Second Vatican Council (even in the Council doc). The Pope can't be wrong, this stuff is wrong, therefore he isn't Pope. Of course there are a spectrum of responses in between, but these are the key elements. There is also a spectrum within this group. One answer is that they are very poor judges of heresy. What does it mean "I'm a Traditional Catholic"?

+ JMJ I was visiting with a friend the other day when he said: "I'm a traditionalist". This surprised me because, while I could imagine him saying he was a "conservative or faithful Catholic", I didn't really think that the "traditionalist" label would stick.
