A look back at 1988 and 2009 - The Excommunications and their lifting. - Part Trois

+ JMJ Received this in an email - I think it helps clarify the flow of events. (Part Un and Deux ) Point A: Who is affected by the decree of 1988 ?  Those named in it, specifically: Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre Bishop Antonio de Castro Mayer Bernard Fellay Bernard Tissier de Mallerais Richard Williamson  Alfonso de Galarreta Point B: What is the duration of the effect of this decree? Point C: As the Decree of 1988 no longer has juridical effect. Point D: Therefore (ergo) as the Decree no longer has 'juridical effect', irregardless as who was named in the Decree of 2009, all those named in the Decree of 1988 are no longer affected by the decree of excommunication. Point E: Therefore (ergo) the excommunications of Archbishop Lefebvre and Bishop de Castro Mayer have also been lifted. Point F: I would like to add one thing that is less commonly known: once a person dies the excommunication is no longer effective since the person, upon their...

Catholic Dogmas, Doctrines and Principles - Expanded with a Logic Map

+ JMJ I decided to take the time to map out the principles that I quoted in the previous article .  It is quite large, but hopefully you'll be able to download and open the png file on your computer. P^3 Has the SSPX Strayed from the Teaching of the Church and Archbishop Lefebvre? Catholic Dogmas, Doctrines and Principles - Expanded

How is the SSPX prepared to accept the Second Vatican Council??? - Updated

+ JMJ The Archbishop remained steadfast. In the 1980s, in his correspondence with then-Cardinal Ratzinger, Archbishop Lefebvre stated his position that the criterion for interpreting Vatican II in light of Tradition comprises three elements: 1) He and the SSPX would accept anything in Vatican II that is clearly consistent with Tradition; 2) Any ambiguous texts of Vatican II must be interpreted strictly according to Tradition; according to the consistent teaching of the Church throughout the centuries. 3) Anything in the Council that cannot be interpreted according to Tradition should be revised. The Archbishop laid this out explicitly in his letters to Cardinal Ratzinger in 1982 and 1985. CF News: Rome-SSPX: Background to the Doctrinal Discussions CF News: The April 15 Deadline A few years ago Tony La Rosa (aka ecclesia militans a Toronto based 'resistor') had a difficult time accepting this approach to the council. He held that it must be completely tossed as...

Rorate: SYNOD BATTLES: Blackmail, Veiled Schism Threats, the Kasperization of the German Church, and the Destruction of Marriage - Document and Analysis

+ JMJ Rorate has released the following translation of a document released by the German Bishops. As this crisis of the Church proceeds, the lines are becoming clearer and clearer. While the Theological lines were crossed at the Second Vatican Council, the Moral lines are being crossed at the 'Synods' and put into practice in the Government of the Church (see CFNEWS article) Pray, for the Faith of many in the Church will be tried by this new scandal. Fr. Nicholson - an apt word

+ JMJ Louie Verrecchio used the word "histrionics" to describe Fr. Nicholson. I think it suits quite well! P^3 his·tri·on·ic ˌhistrēˈänik/ noun plural noun:  histrionics 1 . exaggerated dramatic behavior designed to attract attention. "discussions around the issue have been based as much in histrionics as in history" synonyms: dramatics ,  theatrics , tantrums;  More 2 . archaic an actor.

Fr. Paul Nicholson Perceptions of Reality

+ JMJ  I took a couple of minutes to read all of Fr. Nicholson's screed  ( fatherpaulnicholson.blogspot.it - The "Scotiabank Cathedral"  ). The last few of paragraph's, I believe, present his perspective of reality. In attendance will be, no doubt, the rock stars of the Radical Traditionalist movement.  They will no doubt present themselves for Holy Communion in reverent fashion ... but, like Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi, their reception of Holy Communion will be a painful sight.  Almost all of them, to a man, have cr eated such mistrust of the Holy Father and the sacred Magisterium in the electronic or print media, that it is hard to imagine how they can, in good conscience, present themselves for Holy Communion.   So let's put something straight: The SSPX has never created a 'mistrust of the Holy Father and the sacred Magisterium in my 30+ years of seeking the sacraments from them. From my perspective, it is the knowledge of and adherence to the s...

Fr. Gruner - RIP and don't forget to pray for the rabid anti-SSPX (ie Fr. Nicholson)

+ JMJ Today Fr. Gruner will be laid to rest after practically a lifetime of striving for the work of the Immaculate. As with anyone else who has refused to compromise with the 'New Springtime' that erupted after the Second Vatican Council, he had his collection of critics and persecutors. Persecutors A simple look at the attempts to label Fr. Gruner as a vagus priest who is disobedient etc is sufficient. Look at both sides, they both can't be right. Either Fr. Gruner is incardinated or he is not.  I understand that he demonstrated that he was incardinated (in a similar situation as. Fr. Z), but his persecutors just keep repeating labels with the assurance that if you repeat a lie enough times people (and the liar) will believe it to be true.

Rorate-Caeli, Don Pio Pace and Archbishop Pozzo

+ JMJ Rorate recently posted another article by a " very wise, knowledgeable, and highly influential cleric, writing under the pen name of don Pio Pace"   . I take exception to the last statements of this article (seen below) as it appears to be fodder for the conspiracy minded: Menzingen terrified? As sson as knowledge of this intervention of the Cardinal of Buenos Aires was made known to the wider public, the General House of the SSPX immediately limited its reach. According to a communiqué published by its DICI agency, of April 13, 2015, essentially for internal purposes, Menzingen (the General House) affirms that, "Cardinal Poli’s document has no canonical authority," and that all of that, "is nothing more than a strictly administrative procedure in the restricted context of the Republic of Argentina.” That no one thinks, above all, that there could be a punctual and partial canonical recognition! An additional evidence that, at this point in Histo...

Catholic Dogmas, Doctrines and Principles - What are they good for?

+ JMJ They are good anchors for weathering the storm that is rocking the Barque of Peter and guides for decision making and action taking. In my earlier article on principles , I provided a list of principles that I think are particularly important in these times - especially when confronted with all sorts of aberrant behaviour from people who should know and act better (the list is long).

Neo-Catholic Witch Hunters - The Remnant

+ JMJ I think a question that needs to be resolved is why the 'Neo-Catholics' gravitate towards attacking Traditionalists like the SSPX.  While the context if Neo-Geo's (no I am not 'one'), the tactics remain the same. I think it is fear that motivates them, fear that the Trads may actually be right and by extension they are wrong. P^3 Courtesy of the Remnant
