Advent Series Introduction 2024

+ JMJ I will be reposting a well liked Advent series written by Tradiate. P^3 The season of Advent is a special time set aside by the Church for us to focus on preparing our souls for the coming of Our Lord; His coming at Christmas, but also for us to prepare for His coming at the end of our lives, as well as the end of time   Unfortunately, this time is also filled with holiday preparations and gift giving, and while its not a bad thing to be thinking of others, the focus on shopping and Christmas baking etc can make it difficult to detach from the things of this world. When I was in the convent, Advent was a very special time of year. We lived and breathed the spirit of the Church and we had nothing to distract us from it. As a result we felt rich; full to bursting at Christmastime. Each November, the newest members; the postulants would become a little sad. Perhaps it was their first time they would be away from home for Christmas. They seemed a litt...

News Roundup November 2024

+ JMJ I won't be posting as 'frequently' for a while.  Things are busy right now and I have number of projects that have been languishing in the wings.  So I need to make headway on them. Below are some items that caught my eye. I will include commentary where I think appropriate. P^3   Popes Past Present and Future Tradicat: Is Pope Francis still the Vicar of Christ? This question is popping up a whole lot and the key thing to remember is that every argument is based on theories.   Humans, unfortunately, seek to make simple what is complex. The theological ink being spilt will no doubt help in the future but for now we have to hold on to the actually defined Truths of the Catholic Church.  I have concluded that people who ascrib...

SSPX: Legitimacy and Status of Our Tribunals (1998)

+ JMJ  The situation of the SSPX is still in flux and one thing that comes up is the status of the SSPX tribunals. Interestingly, Bishop Fellay was made the head of one of them by Rome a while back - so it is isn't as black and white as some would have you believe. P^3 Courtesy of SSPX.org: https://sspx.org/en/legitimacy-and-status-our-tribunals-30939 Legitimacy and status of our tribunals A lecture given on August 25, 1998 by Bishop Tissier de Mallerais given at the Canon Law Seminar on Marriage Cases at Econe, Switzerland The legitimacy and status of our tribunals Status quaestionis The declarations of nullity given by post-conciliar ecclesiastical tribunals are often doubtful. Do we have the right to supply for this deficiency, by the means of tribunals functioning within the Society of St. Pius X? Archbishop Lefebvre foresaw the necessity of creating a Canonical Commission, in particular in order to resolve marriage cases after an initial judgment by the di...
