Regarding St. Charles Church - Cheboygan

+ JMJ  Here's the simple reply to this posting by the Diocese of Gaylord: If they were feeding the flock, there would be no need for the SSPX to open an aposolate in the diocese. P^3 https://www.dioceseofgaylord.org/news/information-st-charles-church-cheboygan   A recent video was posted on YouTube entitled “Reopening of St. Charles Church” (Cheboygan). The video is of a Traditional Latin Mass celebrated on July 11, 2021, in the now-closed St. Charles church. To address any questions in this regard, we hope this clarification will be helpful: St. Charles parish was closed and merged with St. Mary’s in the late 1980’s and is known as St. Mary/ St. Charles. The St. Charles church building was sold first to another church and later to an individual seeking to restore the building as a location for the traditional Latin Mass with no authorization from the Bishop of Gaylord. National Catholic Register: Traditional Catholic Institutes to Discuss ‘Traditionis Custodes’ Amid Talk of Visitations

+ JMJ  According to this article the Ecclesia Dei congregations have not been summoned to Rome, but they are considering the possibility of Apostolic Visitations.  Which is how things started with the FFI.  The head of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter said the meeting would be to ‘exchange points of view and to see what we can do together’ ahead of any future possible restrictions imposed by the Vatican.  Hopefully God will intervene before this happens. This doesn't bode well. A Look Back: A short history of the SSPX

+ JMJ  I started a timeline a while back but never finished it.  Fortunately, here's one that brings us up to 1994!!! P^3 http://archives.sspx.org/SSPX_FAQs/a_short_history_of_the_sspx-part-1.htm   A short history of the SSPX A presentation given by Fr. Ramon Angles in Kansas City, MO, on the 25th Anniversary of the founding of the SSPX and reprinted from the January 1996 issue of The Angelus . Part 1 The history of the Society of St. Pius X begins, of course, in the mind of God. But do not believe that its temporal origin is to be found solely at the time of the post-conciliar crisis. The Society of St. Pius X was made possible by the providen
