Traditional Catholics are NOT Immune to GROUP THINK! You need to think CRITICALLY - not CYNICALLY!

+ JMJ    There is a lot of FUD being thrown against the metaphorical wall to see if anything sticks. For example an independent online media recently criticized some mainstream reports about the ongoing surge of COVID-19 cases causing strain on the Emergency Rooms and ICU units. The host of the show noted the number of cases needing ICU's and then peanut buttered that against the number of ICU's at a provincial level.  His conclusion was that there's still ICU beds available. Frankly, that was the STUPIDEST thing I have heard in a while and I've heard some doozies from both sides of the 'great' divide. The error the host made was assuming that cases are equally distributed across a region and taking a simplistic #ICU cases / Total ICU bed. Nature rarely distributes impacts uniformly over a vast geographical region.  Even 'eye witness' video clips don't tell the whole story.  To make good decisions, we need to think critically, rationally and avoid

SSPX.org: “Fratelli tutti” for Dummies

+ JMJ  So Pope Francis goes from weakness to weakness (my new favorite phrase).  I wonder if this is the lowest point possible for Ecumenism ... but I suspect not. P^3 Courtesy of SSPX.org    The encyclical “Fratelli tutti [all brothers], on Fraternity and Social Friendship” was published on October 4, 2020. The following  The Vatican media service believed it was necessary to issue eight explanatory tables with it, because if Pope Francis’ message of fraternity is “very clear and challenging (sic),” according to the Swiss agency cath.ch, “the text is nevertheless quite dense, sometimes impenetrable,” dare one say confused… Hence eight “infographics” that put the clear-obscure thought of the reigning pontiff within the reach of good people. It’s “Fratelli tutti for dummies,” with many sketches, arrows, and pithy formulas like, “the church builds bridges, breaks down walls, sows reconciliation.” In fact, the pope’s encyclical is based on a thought that has characterized

The Enemy of the Truth

+ JMJ There is a lot of FUD being spread about by people who are unable to understand and cope with the facts surrounding the outbreak of COVID-19. The attached video gives some good insights to how rumours transform into conspiracy theories. ... and there's a lot of rumours and mis-understandings of actions being taken to contain the virus. For example we have the 'camps' conspiracy theory.  For the last 30 years this conspiracy theory has surfaced several times.    For some reason the Nazi concentration camp trope is an enduring one.  One that people jump to when presented with information that can interpreted in multiple ways. This requires critical thinking skills which are, sadly, lacking amongst those spreading the FUD. So what to do? First and foremost deepen your spiritual life - otherwise it will die and you will make BIG mistakes. For example look at former Father Joseph Pfeiffer. He's locked into his path and has been obsessively seeking to be consecrated a b

SSPX.org: Letter from the Superior General for the 50th Anniversary of the SSPX

+ JMJ  A couple points stuck out in this letter.    First I love the phrase "... the galloping apostasy of this century ...".  It aptly describes an crisis that goes from weakness to weakness - tearing apart the weak and helpless of the Church due to their ignorance...which in turn is due to the abdication of the vast majority of the hierachy.  The second point is the core reason for our stand:"... it is the spiritual life, the life of an intimate union with Our Blessed Lord, King". P^3 Courtesy of SSPX.org A Golden Jubilee is not always found in a human life, but it is common to reach it in the life of a religious institute. The Priestly Society of Saint Pius X gives thanks to God for these 50 years of existence. On the occasion of this jubilee, the Superior General of the Society, Father Davide Pagliarani, addressed a letter “to the members and faithful of the Priestly Society of Saint Pius X, for the 50th anniversary of its foundation”. As this lette

SSPX.org: The Feast of Pope St. Pius X (#5) - Why Modernists are the Dinosaurs

+ JMJ  The SSPX recently re-published an article by Dr. Chojnowski. While Dr. Chojnowski has gone rogue with his assertion that Sr. Lucy was swapped out , his thinking here provides a different perspective on the 'modernist' who are simply re-cycling old errors. So I can say that I like the young Dr. Chojnowski. P^3  Courtesy of SSPX.org Link to Article #3 of this series   For the week leading up to the feast of our patron on September 3, we will revisit seven articles that each tell something different about Pope St. Pius X.  The following was originally published by  The Angelus  in its April, 2000 issue, written by Dr. Peter Chojnowski. St. Pius X, in his encyclical  Pascendi Dominici Gregis , speaks of Modernism as "the synthesis of all heresies." Since we live in times when the heresy of Modernism and its theological progeny dominate the Catholic intellectual landscape, it is profitable to consider this error from many different vantage points. The

SSPX New Rosary Crusadefor the Mass and Vocation

+ JMJ  The faithful of the SSPX need to be continually grateful for the Priests of the SSPX.  Without them it would be a wasteland. P^3 Courtesy of SSPX.org   Fr. Davide Pagliarani, Superior General of the Society of Saint Pius X, has asked members of the SSPX, as well as faithful and friends to embark on a rosary crusade with the special intentions of freeing the Mass and gaining Vocations: November 21, 2020 (Feast of the Presentation) - April 1st, 2021 (Holy Thursday) Dear members of the Society, my dear faithful and friends. This is an energetic and passionate appeal to all of you, and to all those to whom you can pass on this request: "Let us unite our forces to obtain from Heaven the unconditional freedom to celebrate Holy Mass publicly and to attend it!" The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is what we hold most dear to our hearts. May it once again be celebrated with complete freedom: it contains the solution to all evils, to all illnesses and to all fears. To

A Look Back: October 2008 - Superior General's Letter #73

+ JMJ I was doing some searches and came across an SG letter that bears re-reading. P^3 Courtesy of SSPX.ca: Superior General's Letter # 73 October 2008 - Superior General's Letter #73 Clarifying the ultimatum from Cardinal Castrillon Hoyos. In 2007 the traditional Mass is freed for all priests, but before the decree of excommunication is withdrawn, Cardinal Hoyos wants to impose conditions upon us. We launch a new Rosary Crusade to obtain the withdrawal of the decree of excommunication. Dear Friends and Benefactors, In this letter, I would have liked to give you first of all some news about the internal life of the Society. However, current events in the Church at large and especially concerning the developments in favor of Tradition compel us to dwell longer upon these topics of a more external nature, because of their importance. Once again, it seems to us necessary to tackle this subject, so as to expr
