We Are Roman Catholic! (Updated withPostscript)

We are Roman Catholic - in spite of what Michael Voris et al believe - and here's the perspective of Fr. Couture.

P^3

On Saturday, March 21st Fr. Couture gave a one-hour interview for SSPX.ca. He reviewed the history of the Traditional movement in Canada, and the current work of the SSPX in Canada: the raison d’être of the Society of St. Pius X, the formation of priests, and their faithfulness to Tradition, Magisterium and Doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church.  The Traditional Latin Mass is the source and heart of the Christian life, and the support to families and Catholics who come to the SSPX.

Ordained in 1984 by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, Fr. Couture was the District Superior of Asia for 18 years, before returning last August to his native country of Canada.

PS. I should note that when asked at a different conference if the October Synod had changed Cardinal Mueller's opinion of the SSPX, Fr. Couture stated: Definitely.

Here's how Rome spoke about the SSPX in September 2014 (Source: Rorate-Caeli):

HOLY SEE PRESS OFFICE COMMUNIQUÉ

"On the morning of Tuesday 23 September from 11 am to 1 pm, a cordial meeting took place at the premises of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, between Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Muller, prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and Bishop Bernard Fellay, superior general of the Society of St. Pius X. The meeting was also attended by Archbishops Luis Francisco Ladaria Ferrer, S.I., secretary of the same Congregation, Joseph Augustine Di Noia, O.P., adjunct secretary and Guido Pozzo, secretary of the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei, along with two assistants from the Society of St. Pius X, Rev. Niklaus Pfluger and Rev. Alain-Marc Nély.

"During the meeting, various problems of a doctrinal and canonical nature were examined, and it was decided to proceed gradually and over a reasonable period of time in order to overcome difficulties and with a view to the envisioned full reconciliation."

Interestingly, the phrase 'full communion' is absent.

That according to Protocol N. 084/15, of February 23, 2015, the Archbishop of Buenos Aires, Mario Aurelio Cardinal POLI, requests that the "FRATERNITY OF THE APOSTLES OF JESUS AND MARY" (PRIESTLY FRATERNITY OF SAINT PIUS X) be held, up to the moment in which it finds its definitive juridical framing within the Church Universal, as an Association of Diocesan Right, according to what is established by canon 298 of the Code of Canon Law, being in fieri [henceforth and in the meantime] a Society of Apostolic Life, with all the benefits that correspond to it, and complying with all obligations to which the same refers, also accepting all responsibilities that belong to the diocesan Prelate.[emphasis added]

That to the aforesaid fraternity be accredited its character as a public juridical person within the ROMAN CATHOLIC APOSTOLIC CHURCH, according to the norms of the Code of Canon Law. [emphasis added]

Could it be that, as in Argentina, elsewhere the SSPX is actually a part of the Catholic Church???

So Michael Voris et al: Rome has spoken and obviously approved the statement in Argentina.

Perhaps you (Michael Voris et al) should show some respect for that, as we (SSPX priests, sisters, brothers, and lay faithful) continue to work on helping the Church recover from this crisis instead of standing on the sidelines throwing stones.

Thirty Days Prayer to Our Lady -

Providence has cast this prayer in my path twice in the last week.  I decided to post it here in order to have a copy handy.

With the condition of affairs in the cultural, political and physical world in a state of disarray we enter Lent - Ash Wednesday - February 25th - 2004 - more compelled then ever to pursue, diligently and faithfully, our personal road to holiness. It is a long, difficult path each of us treads, however, we do know the journey can be sweeter and more blessed if we travel it with others. Jesus has told us: "Wherever two or more are gathered in my name, I am with you." And there are many other biblical passages, as well, that urge us to love and help one another.

A 'Thirty Day Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary ' was said by many Catholics during troubled times in their lives up until Vatican II. While looking through old stored away boxes, I came across a small white prayer book of the kind give…

Homily vs Sermon

+ JMJ
Something that I've noticed is that Modern Catholics use the phrase 'Homily' instead of 'Sermon'.

I've often wondered about this difference.

Here's what I found

Catholic Encyclopedia (1910) Homily:
...Since Origen's time homily has meant, and still means, a commentary, without formal introduction, division, or conclusion, on some part of Sacred Scripture, the aim being to explain the literal, and evolve the spiritual, meaning of the Sacred Text.  ...
Wikipedia Sermon::
A sermon is an oration, lecture, or talk by a member of a religious institution or clergy. Sermons address a scriptural, theological, religious, or moral topic, usually expounding on a type of belief, law, or behavior within both past and present contexts. Elements of the sermon often include exposition, exhortation, and practical application.
Catholic Encyclopedia (1910) Sermon:
As to preaching at the present day, we can clearly trace the influence, in many respects, of Schola…
